Little League Draft Process for Minors, Majors, Juniors

1. Players register ON TIME, indicating their desired division and previous division.

2. The Board determines the number of teams per division based on registrations and assigns managers accordingly. Each team in Majors and Minors will have 12 players. Juniors teams may have more or fewer players depending on total enrollments.

3. Players attend MANDATORY tryouts organized by player agents who provide lists of all candidates in the division to managers. Managers and league evaluators assess the candidates on a set of skills. 

4. Player Agents provide final lists of eligible candidates to managers prior to the draft, making note of which players are required to be drafted into the division. Additional information provided to managers will include player age, grade, previous division played, league evaluations, and previous season coach evaluations.

5. DRAFT NIGHT

   1. Draft nights are run by the Player Agents. President and/or VP will also be in attendance.

   2. The manager from each team in the division attends the draft. No additional helpers are permitted to attend.

   3. Player Agents list all candidates by age. Mandatory placements in the division are noted. Juniors mandatory placements include all 13- and 14-yr-olds. Majors mandatory placements include all 12-yr-olds, all returning Majors players, all 11-year-olds with at least two years of experience in TLL Minors. Mandatory placements for Minors include all 11-year-olds not drafted into Majors, all returning Minors players, and all 10-year-olds with at least two years of experience in TLL AAA division.

   4. Player Agents review the rules, procedures, and expectations of the draft process with managers and answer any questions.

   5. Managers draw numbers to determine draft order. Draft order is serpentine.

   6. Draft begins with successive selections from eligible players based on the draft order determined earlier. Managers' children and siblings of drafted players may be protected until specific rounds according to the rules of the Little League Operating Manual, Player Selection System, Plan B.

   7. When the number of draft spaces left equals the number of remaining mandatory placements, the Player Agents inform the managers that they can now ONLY choose from among the mandatory placements. 

   8. Draft continues until all teams are filled with 12 players. 

   9. Once each team is complete, the Player Agents will review the rosters with the managers to ensure all are in agreement with the rosters. Draft Night is officially over.

   10. ALL RESULTS OF THE DRAFT NIGHT SELECTION ARE STRICTLY CONFIDENTIAL. Managers may not inform players or potential coaches of the draft results at this point. 

6. A 24-hour trading period goes into effect when Draft Night is concluded. Managers are able, during this window, to trade players with other teams. All trades must be conducted through the Player Agent. Managers must maintain strict confidentiality of the draft throughout this period.

7. After the trading period, the Player Agents will finalize the rosters and send them to the managers.

8. Any players not drafted during the Majors draft will become eligible for and included in the Minors draft. Any players not drafted during the Minors draft will be placed on a AAA team.

9. Managers may contact the players on their rosters after 4 pm of the day determined by the Board to be Announcement Day. This is after ALL team rosters in ALL divisions have been determined. All players in TLL will be informed of their division placement on the same day.

10. CONFIDENTIALITY REGARDING DRAFT RESULTS AND ROSTERS MUST BE MAINTAINED UNTIL THE PLAYER AGENT INFORMS THE MANAGERS THAT THEY MAY CONTACT PLAYERS. ANY MANAGER THAT IS FOUND TO HAVE VIOLATED THIS RESTRICTION WILL BE SUBJECT TO DISCIPLINARY ACTION BY THE LEAGUE.
